The FABulou’s sponsored by Maviflex

Recently, Maviflex has become a sponsor of the FABulou’S, an adapted sport section of the Rugby Club of Seyssins.

The initiator of this association is Franck Guitton, educator at the Seyssins Rugby Club for 11 years and father of 3 children, including 2 rugby players, Fabien and Théo. His son Fabien, a disabled person, wanted to play rugby like his brother. So in 2017, Franck proposed the idea of setting up this adapted sport section. The objective was to allow all mentally and/or psychically handicapped people to play rugby. And this, in the same way as a person without a disability.

Why Les FABulou’s?

One day, a friend of Franck’s referred to these athletes as “fabulous”. By combining the word fabulous with his son Fabien’s first name, the FABulou’s were born. At the beginning, they were 7 sportsmen, now, the section counts 16 participants having between 12 and 54 years. The FABulou’S training sessions are real landmarks. They always gather more people, disabled or not, children and parents.

What is Franck’s greatest satisfaction? 

Father of a child with a disability. Franck has learned that people with disabilities grow in stages throughout their lives. Each step means an important change such as joining a rugby club, changing schools, etc. Franck is proud to see his son grow and flourish in his club. Since he started playing rugby, Fabien and his fellow athletes have found it easier to follow instructions. Their progress in motor skills and dexterity is phenomenal. What Franck is most proud of is seeing the smiles on the players’ faces and the pleasure they have in playing rugby at each training session.

The FABulou’s & Maviflex sponsorship

Thanks to Gilbert Poggioli’s network, Les FABulou’S of the Rugby Club de Seyssins have been able to attract a large number of sponsors, including Maviflex. The sponsorship is very important, it already allows to gather Maviflex and other companies around the FABulou’S. Not to mention the fact that it helps to promote the group through communication with employees and customers and to make as many people as possible aware of these sportsmen and women and their practices. The sponsorship also allows us to have a financial help in order to propose low registration fees to reduce the costs of the families.

The FABulou’S participated in the 2019 French Adapted Sports Rugby Championships in La Crau. “That’s when we felt like organizing such an event. We had so much fun in 2019, players, parents and supervisors, that we had more than one idea in mind: to organize it at home, in Seyssins” says Franck. The next French Para Rugby Championship will be organized at the FABulou’S in Seyssins on May 6, 7 and 8, 2022, jointly by the French Federation of Adapted Sports (FFSA) and the Rugby Club of Seyssins.

What are the future projects for the association ?

Franck wishes to enlarge the group and develop the practice of adapted rugby for young people with disabilities from 12 to 17 years old. To continue to take pleasure in each moment of sharing and practice. As well as to participate in future competitions organized by other adapted sport committees in other regions. This adapted sport section was created thanks to a great surge of solidarity. It counts on its volunteers and players to continue the adventure for many years.
